The AP reports that a blaze broke out in a foie gras production facility in upstate NY killing 15,000 ducks. They were one of only three domestic producers of the fatty livers.

Foie gras is nasty and I'm sure the ducks were not "free range" during the day, so I'm not sorry the facility is closed. All cuisine jokes aside, this was an awful event and I hope there is more oversight in the remaining two facilities as a result.
